Christmas Keepsake Ornaments

 

The ABC Embroidery Blocks are a collection of cross stitch Christmas keepsake ornaments. They are intended to have stitchers try a variety of techniques, stitches or products that they may not have tried before, but on a small scale.  For instance, on the A-B Apple Basket and C-D Around the Block with Cat & Dog, Assisi embroidery and blackwork patterns are introduced. Try the beautiful variegated threads by The Gentle Art on different colored fabrics. On the E-F Ewe & I Love Flowers, Assisi embroidery is presented and on the G-H Gingerbread House, Mill Hill beads and the Algerian Eye stitch are introduced on the Gingerbread cookie and house. I-J Ivy & Jasmine and K-L Knit'n Kitten & Light Fight explore the use of Waterlilies and Soie Cristale silk threads by The Caron Collection and diagrams explain the Algerian Eye, Rhodes and Half-Rhodes w/Bar specialty stitches .    M-N Mermaid's Necklace practices the Feather stitch and experiments with Metallic Very Fine Braid from Kreinik Mfg. and buttons from Just Another Button Co. O-P Signs of Autumn  introduces the Rice Stitch and multi-color blackwork motifs.  Q-R Quatrefoils & Rosettes and S-T Thistle Sampler Block practice Queen Stitch in a progressive manner . Experiment with Silk Serica and Silk Mori by Kreinik Mfg. Co. U-V Ukelele & Violin use one color and metallic threads, W-X Whitework & Cross Stitch introduce simple whitework techniques and Y-Z Yellow Zinnias ends the series with the Vault Stitch and simple cross stitch flowers. Easy and quick to complete, these blocks can be used as Holiday ornaments or for table top displays.

Both M-N and O-P Blocks are cross stitched on 28 ct Waterlily Jobelan fabric by Wichelt Imports.  Scallop shell and sand dollar buttons from Just Another Button Co., beads from Mill Hill, Metallic Very Fine (#4) Braid by Kreinik Mfg. Co., DMC and The Gentle Art embroidery floss.

Quatrefoils & Rosettes and Thistle Sampler Block

 

  Both Q-R and S-T Blocks are stitched on 28 ct Cameo Peach Jobelan fabric by Wichelt Imports.   Silk Mori and Silk Serica by Kreinik Mfg. Co., The Gentle Art embroidery floss and Millifiori butterfly buttons (included in chartpack) are used. The Thistle Sampler block has the words "Cherish Yesterday, Live for Today".

Block Dimensions: 2" x 2"  when assembled. Assembly instructions included.

 
The U-V and Y-Z Blocks are stitched on 28 ct Cameo Peach Jobelan fabric  and the W-X Block is stitched on 28ct Waterlily Jobelan by Wichelt Imports.    The Gentle Art embroidery floss and DMC Perle Cotton are used.
