"Cape Cod Girls" is a mermaid cross stitch design featuring words from the traditional sea shanty of the same name,

sung by sailors in the 1800s while on whaling voyages. 

"Cape Cod Girls got no combs

They comb their hair with codfish bones."

The mermaid is cross stitched on the Metallic Belfast Linen to give a shimmery, undersea quality to the design. 

 The Gentle Art Sampler threads and Very Fine (#4) Braid by Kreinik Mfg. Co. are used along with Mill Hill Antique Glass Beads.
